Beach Creatures

[ MERHAG ]

Threat Level: ★★☆
Medium: Merhags aren't overly aggressive but if their pride is hurt they can become very dangerous.

Description:
Most mermaids people see are considered lovely young maidens, however there are some that are. . ."under developed." These are called Merhags. By under developed, this means their skin is dark tan and leathery, and will sometimes shed because of the salt water. Their face resembles nothing of a human, save the teeth, but more of fish, and their eyes are a frightening yellow (some would call their facial appear "horse-like" for their narrow-ish snout.). This is a strict female breed, thus absolutely no males. Because of this, they long for children. It is possible for them to be impregnated by normal fish, however 90% of the time the eggs are still-born. Because of their lack of beauty, Merhags are considered monsters. Some are feral, especially during mating season, but usually they are a calm creature and do not mind humans.
They hold grudges against women who are able to get pregnant and are beautiful. Since Merhags are deformed and considered barren, they are jealous of those blessed with beauty and working sexual organs and will become violent if mocked. While a rope is always in their hands, they are strong despite their frail appearance. If they see one they deem "beautiful," they will attempt to drag them deep into the water. From there, their rope is tied around the throat and the Merhag will swim up, lynching their prey.

Defeat:
- Unless a beautiful, impregnated female, there is nothing to warn -- unless you're a beautiful male.
- If caught, mere complimenting will soften their hearts.

Rarity:
Very rare. Merhags are border-line extinct, so hunting them is strictly forbidden.

Forest Creatures

[ DIVA & HER GARDEN ]

Threat Level: ★★★
High: Diva is a creature of pray and does not discriminate. Best chance of survival is avoidance.

Description:
Though seeming to be two different subjects, Diva and Her Garden are one. With its main form invisible to the eye, the victim will only be able to see a succubus with healthy green hair beckoning them toward her with a sweet whistle. This is its lure, Diva. Diva is able to move thirty feet from the patch of meadow and even speak. As she lures her subject back to her land, she will release a sweet smelling pollen that clouds the senses. When in the center of the meadow, vines will begin to sprout around the victim and Diva's feet, ensnaring them both. Then, the female body will sprout into a Venus Fly Trap-like plant and "eat" its prey. Rather than classically digesting, its meal is cocooned, much like how a spider catches her flies. From there, she awaits the suffocation of her pray, and then she compresses and absorbs them. Note: Sexual orientation does not matter to this creature. No matter what, it will try to seduce you.

Defeat:
- Insults. Like all succubi, Diva is highly narcissistic and does not take well to being insulted. When one is thrown, she will forget all about capturing the subject and go for combat.
- Combat is a perfect opportunity to kill Diva & Her Garden. Stabbing the belly is a fine way to do away with the beast. When her skin is punctured, she bleeds a thick, clear liquid, dies, and then the plant-life turns into normal plant-life.
- No eye contact. The moment Diva locks eyes with her target, they are trapped in her spell. The best way to avoid eye contact is, when the whistle is heard, to simply ignore.

Rarity:
Diva & Her Garden are not too common and are only seen in certain parts of the forest. They are most famous for their ever-lasting flowers and glowing butterflies.

[ FILCH ]

Threat Level: ★☆☆
Low: Though they do attack, they do not cause any deadly harm and only attack when provoked.

Description:
They take the form of an average brown thrasher. However, when angrily evoked, they mutate: feathers molt and the skin becomes decayed and slimy, beak becomes a slick, stinger-like protrusion, and moth-like wings and legs. If stimulated further, they will circle their attacker, screech loudly, and then jab the sides, belly, and back, where in rest, they'll proceed to suck small bits of memory as their energy. Note: What memory the bird sucks out is not anything serious. The person may experience trouble remember little things. E.x.: Their roommate / lover's name, the time or day, etc.

Defeat:
- Do not harass. By default, the Filch are calm creatures and usually do not mind some human interaction, however if harassed for long periods of time, they will react violently.
- Perfume. Like most bugs, perfume messes up their senses. This is the same for the Filch. If you wear something strong, they're bound to leave you alone.
- Do not whistle.

Rarity:
Filch are common. They are beautiful birds and do not mind much human interaction.

[ HYDRA ]

Threat Level: ★★★
High: This creature is highly aggressive and will grow even more deadly if it's territory is invaded.

Description:
A gargantuan six-headed beast that lives within the very depths of the forest. Only the bravest and strongest (or the most dim-witted and foolish) dare to attempt to search out and confront this creature. It is advised to run should you run into this beast. Decapitating one of its heads will daze it for a short time, but regardless of how many times it is severed, it will always grow back. The hydra is extremely aggressive and will grow even more so if you manage to severe one of its heads.

Defeat:
- The only way to truly defeat this monster is to stab it through the heart, but it hardly an easy feat. Its heart is guarded by abnormally tough skin that is nearly impossible for even the toughest of blades to break through.

Rarity:
Extremely rare. There is only one in the entire forest and it is not easily found.

[ JINX ]

Threat Level: ★★★
High: This creature is very territorial and considers anyone or anything that enters it's land to be fair game.

Description:
This territorial creature always travels in a pack of at least 3. You will never find one on its own, and if you do, you are most likely caught up in one of its pack's games. Jinxes believe the forest is their own personal play-ground, and anything that wonders into it is just a pawn on their chess board. If something or someone does wander into their so-called play-ground, they will stalk their prey and make themselves noticed. From there, they will play with this someone by giving them riddles. These riddles usually have one answer, though there are times when they wish to test their own luck, as well as yours, and will give a legit riddle. Though don't think much of this bit of kindness... Jinxes never play fair.
Even if answered correctly don't think you've reached the end of the game. They will acknowledge your wisdom and even commend you for it, but this pack is a pack of sore losers. They'll let their prey believe they've gotten away but this is just the beginning of their favorite game. Jinxes love a good chase. By answering their riddle you've given yourself a head start -- but also a chance for them to regroup. They know the forest well and are excellent strategists, so escape is very rare. However, even if by some stroke of luck you manage to escape the forest, your game of chase will end, but your luck will run out. Jinx are called so for a reason. An encounter with them is a very bad omen and bad luck is soon to follow.

Defeat:
- Since they hunt in a pack, killing one will just make the rest more aggressive. The best chance is using the Jinxes natural born enemy against it. The scent of Diva and her Garden is highly alluring to the Jinx and unlike other animals their intake of colors is limited so the bright colors of Diva's butterflies do not provide the same warning they do for humans. Like moths to a flame they will wonder into her trap. It is also rumored that this method also relieves you of a Jinx's jinx.
- Escape the forest and beat them at their game of chase. It is not an easy task but Jinxes loath areas outside of their forest. If you aren't stupid enough to mock them then they wont chase you outside of it. This isn't guaranteed though.
- Scents. Since their eye sight is poor, Jinxes often rely on their sense of smell. If you're making a trip through the forest it would be best to buy anything that will throw off their sense of smell. A special bomb that holds the scent of Diva is the best choice for the wise traveler.

Rarity:
Slightly rare. They tend to stay in the forest but consider most of it their territory. The deeper into it you go the more likely you'll spot one. If by chance you are lucky enough to survive an encounter with one that very luck will run out soon for this creature is a bad omen and bad luck is soon to follow.

[ MISCHIEF ]

Threat Level: ★★☆
Medium: The Mischiefs themselves are fairly harmless though they can get pretty carried away with their pranks.

Description:
A very impish creature, the Mischief loves to have fun and play pranks. While they don't aim to harm, their tricks can get a little out of hand at times. One of their favorite things to do is to turn inanimate objects into puppets by attaching string to furniture or plants and controlling the movements while hidden. They can also throw their voice and are extremely hard to spot once settled as they can change their skin much like a chameleon. When not in hiding they look almost like miniature elven children, with leaves for wings and clothing. Despite their small stature this does not limit what items the can control. At times they can even control humans but this usually doesn't last long since they can only control the body and not their words or mind.

Defeat:
- The easiest way is to cut the strings though it may take some time to find all the strings as they can blend into their surroundings much like their owner's skin. If cutting doesn't do the trick give the object a sharp pull to loosen it. The strings are strong but thin and a sharp enough jolt can snap them.
- Light is another tool that can help you spot them. Their strings shine and reflect bright light. Following the string will lead you to the Mischief's hiding place.
- Nutmeg is another handy tool to scare off this pest. They loathe the scent of it, burning incense or hanging a small bag of it in your windowsill will usually keep them away.

Rarity:
Medium. They live in the forest but will wonder into the city when they grow bored with picking on other monsters. They have more fun teasing humans.

[ SHADOW CRAWLER ]

Threat Level: ★★★
High: This creature is very aggressive and will attack anything that drifts close enough to it.

Description:
TBA

Defeat:
TBA

Rarity:
Medium. They live in the forest but have been known to lurk the streets of the city. Even wonder into one's home.

[ STONE CAT ]

Threat Level: ★★☆
Medium: Stone cats are fairly lazy and tend to only attack if confronted or for food.

Description:
These cat-like creatures are highly aggressive and will prey on anything that gets close enough to them. Though feline in appearance, they have slightly elongated ears and, when sitting, their head is level with the average humans waist. Their natural fur color varies, but most tend to be shades of gray. Instead of hunting for prey, Stone Cats prefer to lie in wait for something to approach. They have the ability to blend into their environment perfectly. The only time that this camouflage is dropped is when they finally move into a crouch to pounce.

Defeat:
-Stone Cats can be killed through normal means, but confrontation is not recommended.
-They are known to be lazy and refuse to chase potential prey very far. In this way, escape simply through running may be possible.
-When all else fails, Stone Cats are easily distracted by any clinking, jingling sounds. Such as bells, keys, coins, etc. When they hear such a noise, they will simply stare at the source until it finally stops.

Rarity:
Rare. They mostly stay in the forest since it's where their main food source can be found.

[ YOMA ]

Threat Level: ★☆☆
Low: Aside from the affects on their victims vision they do not cause harm or pain.

Description:
These white worms hang from the bottoms of leaves that grow on high branches in areas of dense forest. Whenever someone passing underneath looks upward, they drop and burrow into the victim's eye. Most of the time this goes unnoticed, however, as the worms are small the process is relatively painless. Once the Yoma are settled, the host eye will turn from white to red. At this point the infected's vision will be divided in two; with one eye working normally while the host eye can only see in black and white, with intense contrast between light and shadows. Unless one eye is covered, these two vision patterns will be crossed, creating blurry, gray-ish scene for the infected. If the worm is left alone for an extended period, the effect will spread to both eyes.

Defeat:
-Yoma thrive in light. If they have no access to light, they will go out of the eye on their own. The most practical method seems to be to cover the eye with one or both hands. This way the worm will crawl between the fingers and can be disposed of easily.

Rarity:
N/A

Domestic Creatures

[ DREAM CATCHER ]

Threat Level: ★☆☆
Low: They do not physically harm their enchanted pray.

Description:
Despite labeled as a special type of ghost, they technically have no "appearance." Some say they've seen the Dream Catcher in the form of a young girl with long, jet black hair and a white night gown. They're a picky, sexual creature that worm their way into the target's skull and appear in their dream. Depending on how the subject treats them, they will either bring bliss or disaster. If treated nicely, the Dream Catcher will proceed to make their target experience some kind of sexual encounter within their dream (basically, a wet dream.) to either relieve stress, show who they truly care for (in a friendship or love-interest manner.), or even show a past love-interest from the person's original home - however, this memory will not have a name, just the appearance. However, if treated badly, they will wreck the person's dream and create a hellish nightmare.

Defeat:
There is no way to be rid of this creature. It comes and goes as it pleases.

Rarity:
Dream Catchers are not common for they are a lower version of those who seriously return memories to others. Since they're appearances are slightly rare, no matter what the outcome, they bring a sign of luck.

[ FABLE ]

Threat Level: ★☆☆
Low: This creature is absolutely harmless. They simply enjoy intelligent conversation and a good story.

Description:
TBA

Defeat:
Nothing very complicated though they are such intelligent and tranquil creatures it is illegal to harm them.

Rarity:
This creature is fairly common and are very social with humans since they often hold stories not found in books.

[ OTHERSIDE ]

Threat Level: ★☆☆
Low: This creature does absolutely no harm to its victim, just plays with them psychologically.

Description:
A type of ghost whose form is that of white flame, thus near nonexistent to the untrained eye. It has the ability to attach itself to anything it pleases -- wilderness and household only, not people -- and misshapen them, turn them hideous. The object they latch to becomes rust colored, thus making the creature easy to spot, should it ever invade one's home.
Mirrors of any kind (this includes glass, water, and metals) are a favorite, for it gives the chance for the creature to view its work. e.g.: If a person looks into a "possessed" mirror in the bathroom, they will see the grotesque ruins of the room, followed by a mutilated version of themselves. If they move, the twisted reflection will move as well, however be jerky. Since the creature is completely unintelligent, it may sometimes get the moves incorrect - e.g.: Person lifts their right arm, but their reflection lifts the left.

Defeat:
- Destroying the object is the ultimate way. It not only breaks the Otherside's concentration, but it doubles in killing it.
- If the substance is water, then causing it to ripple or just spilling it will do the trick.

Rarity:
This is a common creature.

[ PETAL DANCER ]

Threat Level: ★☆☆
Low: Also harmless. They are a bit shy but become very outgoing when music is played.

Description:
TBA

Defeat:
None. Another domestic creature that is illegal to harm.

Rarity:
This is a common creature, often found in areas where lots of music can be heard.

[ WUGGLE ]

Threat Level: ★☆☆
Low: This creature does absolutely no harm to ...anyone. They simply enjoy treats and lovely sparkling items for their collections.

Description:
Small, mice-like creatures that travel in packs. Are often mistaken for colorful cotton balls until they move. They come in all colors from aqua to yellow and like most pests, these creatures are harmless and tend to be troublesome. They have an odd passion for anything that gives off a shine such as coins, house keys, and shoe buckles and will make it their goal to acquire said item if spotted. It is believed they bring these trinkets back to their burrows, which is often found in the walls or under floor boards of human homes, and form collections with their pilfered goods. They also have a weakness for anything with a sweet scent, so leaving even leaving around wrapped candies or lighting sweetly scented candles will attract them to your home. But aside from stealing your keys and pocket change, these creatures tend to shy away from humans from fear of being squished.

Defeat:
Like most pest they can be killed by stepping on them, poisons and common mouse traps if you set the right bait.

Rarity:
This is a common creature, often lives in the walls of human homes.
